Plot the
Journey

Learning to read a map is a useful skill that you will need throughout your life. Using a State of Rhode Island Map, plot out a route you think Meg and Jake may have traveled to get from their initial destination, Charlestown, Rhode Island, to the location of the month.

Remember that there could be many different routes they may have traveled. Try one or all of these activities:

* Write out the specific roads Meg and Jake could have traveled, placing the directions in proper order. You can plot out the most direct route or you can be creative and take them on a scenic route.

* Estimate the number of miles the dogs spent on the route you have plotted out for them to travel. Use the legend or key provided for you on your Rhode Island map.

* Get your work published on the Where Are Meg and Jake? Send us your routes and estimations and get a note back from Meg and Jake. Good Luck and we look forward to seeing your work and ideas.

  • To keep better track of where Meg and Jake travel, we suggest you copy some pictures of the dogs from our site and use them on your map as you learn what cities they have traveled to.
