The 2008 Rhode Island Art Education
Association Conference entitled ÒINOV8Ó (Innovate) will take place on November
1 at West Warwick High School. All art educators,
instructors, arts administrators, student teachers, and members of the arts and
business communities are invited to attend.
With a play on Õ08, coordinators of
this event invite you to communicate, create, ruminate, investigate, advocate,
illuminate and celebrate the new opportunities available to us. Catch up on new
Òteaching delivery systemsÓ such as Wikis, SmartBoard,
Web 2.5, and open-source web platforms. Learn how RI art educators are leading
the way in advocacy and community outreach. Investigate the core of creativity
and learn why the arts are on the forefront of a positive global future
illustrating how art learning advances skills for the 21st Century.

address by internationally renowned Creativity Guru, Tom Monahan
Tom Monahan is a pioneer in the
field of creative thinking. Nearly two decades ago he founded Before &
After, a firm totally dedicated to helping people think creatively. Since 1992
they have worked with companies, professional groups and individuals who want
to significantly increase their overall creative thinking capabilities, or
simply looking to grease their minds as they attack a challenge or opportunity
that requires big, original thinking.

presentation from leaders in the business and education sectors on the
importance of arts education in preparing for the 21st century
global economy. Moderated by Paul Sproll, founder of RISDÕs Center for the Advancement of Art + Design Education.
