Crispin:  The Cross of Lead
by
Avi
Grades 4-6

It starts off that there is a boy who was accused of killing.  He is proclaimed a Wolf's Head.  This happens in the Middle Ages.  Some of  the characters are Crispin, Bear and Lord Fernaval.  Crispin wants to save Bear so he threatens Lord Fernaval.  It is exciting.  This book is good from beginning to end.

This book is fiction.  Some people had claimed Crispin to be a wolf's head.  This book is set in the olden times, the Middle Ages.  It is not illustrated.  You should read Avi's books since they are the best books ever.

Crispin is historical fiction.  It's about a boy who is claimed a wolf's head.  This takes place a long time ago.  The main characters are Crispin and Bear.  Bear is a very big man (that's why everybody calls him bear).  There are no pictures.  I liked the book because it is a very big adventure.  I would like to see people read it because it is a very good book.  It is also about a boy running away.

Crispin The Cross of Lead, by Avi, is a historical realistic fiction book. It is about a boy who meets up with Bear, an old jester. Crispin does not know his real name. He was known as "boy." When his mother dies, Crispin is given a cross of lead, which was once his mother's. Crispin realizes that there are engravings on the cross, but he cannot read them. It takes place somewhere on the west side of Europe around the time when there were lords, kings and so on. The characters in the story are Crispin, Bear, and the rude mean, lord. There are no illustrations. I would recommend this book to all kids from the ages 9-12. All those who love books during the middle ages will love this book. I would rate it an 8.5 because of its great descriptions about the amazing and action full adventure. This is definitely a book I would read again and again.

Crispin the cross of lead is by the author Avi. The genre of the book is historical fiction because it takes place in the middle ages. This book is about a boy who meets up with an older man named Bear who was once an old jester. They meet up in a church far away from Crispin's country. When Crispin's mom was alive she never told Crispin that his name was Crispin. To Crispin's neighbors, he was always known as boy. When his mother died the priest of his church gave him a cross of lead which was once his mothers. One day Crispin was looking at the cross to see if there was something special about it. He realized that there were engravings on it. But, Crispin could not read them. He was really determined to find out what it said. Crispin, the Cross of Lead, takes place near the west side of Europe, around the time that there were Lords and Kings. The characters in this story are, Crispin, Bear, and the Evil Lord. There are no illustrations in this book. I recommend this book to grades 4-8. This book was very good and I would read it again. Out of a 1-10, I would definitely rate it a 10. The descriptions are so realistic. I loved this book. If a teacher needs a book to read for his or her class, this is most definitely the one!

Crispin is a historical fiction book.  Crispin is claimed to be a wolf's head.  That means you can get killed by an y one at any time.  The story takes place in the Middle Ages.  If you like cliff hangers, you will love this book.

The book Crispin by Avi takes place is Stromford, England, a long time ago.  Crispin is a thirteen year old boy who is declared a wolf's head.  The book is very suspenseful.  Later you will find out something surprising.  This book is one of the best books I have ever read.

Nick, Grade 5, Northern Lincoln Elementary School, Lincoln, RI

Crispin  is  one  of  the  best  books   I  have  ever  read.   It  is the  Medieval  Times  that  this  teenager  is  living  in.   He  has been  declared  a  wolf  head  which  means  he  can  be  shot, stabbed,  trampled  on,  just  killed  by  anyone  at  any  given  time.  All this  just  because  he has  been  accused  of  robbing  the  Manor House,  which  he  did  not  do.    So  he runs  away  with  some information  about  his  family,  and  his  dead  mother's  cross  of  lead  in  his  hand. Want  to  know  what  happens  next?  If  you  have not  read this  book  yet,  READ  IT  NOW!!!  It  will  knock  the
socks  off  your  feet!
