Naomi and her brother, Owen, live with their grandmother.  Their parents haven't been seen since a terrible storm.  Suddenly seven years
later their mom shows up at the front door and wants to take the children away.  Can Naomi's grandmother prove she has the right to keep them?  Read

Becoming Naomi Leon by Pam Munez Ryan is a realistic fiction book. The main characters in this story are Naomi, her grand mother, Naomi’s brother, her mother, and her mother’s boyfriend. This story takes place in Mexico in a trailer park. The plot is that her mother ran away when Naomi and her brother where really little to look for her husband. And now, she wants to have her children back just like that. Except she has a new boyfriend, and has a job as a hair stylist. She does not pay a lot of attention to Naomi or her brother. Will Naomi warm up to her mother or will she think different? I like this book because I get to read about someone’s life. I recommend this book for grades 4-6.
