COMMENTS ON BEANY (NOT BEANHEAD) AND THE MAGIC CRYSTAL, THE KHAN'S DAUGHTER

Wojciechoswski, Susan. Beany (not Beanhead) and the Magic Crystal. Candlewick Press. Grades 3-4

Missing hamsters, photos that make Beany look like she came from Planet Forehead, and a MAGIC crystal propel Beany toward her birthday celebration. Unpredictable and just plain fun.

Student Comments

I think that Beany and the Magic Crystal is a funny and open-hearted book because Beany tries to scrub off her freckles and she can't figure out what to do with her hair for pictures. When Beany gets a wishing crystal she can't figure out what to wish for. So she gives it to her neighbor an old widow Mrs.Kasper who needs some love and happiness in her life. I recommend this book to every child because it teaches you a lesson about not thinking just of yourself, but thinking of other people too.
