Jon Scieszka

This is a really good
book! The kids in the class think crazy
things when they hear these poems. If
you like crazy poems you'll love these!
You will see crazy pictures
and familiar words that switched around into funny ones! Try it, I'll bet you'll like it!!
Rebecca, Grade 4,
This book is about a kid who
goes to science and catches the curse of science verse. Once he
catches the curse he starts to hear everything in poem. He feels freaked
out about it. This is a very poetic book. If
you like poems, then you should read this book.

Do you think science can be
boring? Can you believe that they can
make a book that makes science fun?
Well, you better believe it because Science Verse by Jon Scieszka is here.
Science Verse is a humorous book.
It’s about a kid who falls asleep during science class and dreams
a bunch of goofy poems about science that will help you to understand
science. The main character has no
name. The illustrations are very
important to the story because if you don’t understand the poem the
pictures help out. I liked the book
because it was very interesting and fun.
I would recommend it to anyone.
It was awesome, it’s easy yet challenging, it’s a very, very
good book. Go to the nearest library and
pick up a copy of Science Verse by Jon Scieszka.
Alyssa,
Grade 6,
The book Science Verse by Jon
Scieszka is surprising because it’s funny and
crazy. Each poem in the book reminds up
of famous poems or songs that we know.
The poems are funny and if you look carefully, there’s real
science there. If you don’t watch
out, you’ll learn something! The
pictures are detailed and very funny.
You need to look at them carefully to see a lot of the jokes. I recommend this book because you might laugh
as much as I did. Go out there and laugh
out loud!

Did you ever think that
science could be educational? Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith are the authors of Science
Verse. The book is about a boy who falls
asleep in science class and he starts to hear science poems. They make this book humorous and
educational. It makes science fun for
kids. Science Verse is good for kids of
all ages and especially for kids who like poems and science.

The book Science Verse by Jon
Scieszka is a good, funny book. I like this book because it mostly tells
about funny poems. Most of the poems are
not that easy to connect to another poem—the one they are based on. Some of them you remember but a little
differently. I think people should read
this book because it has such good pictures and good poems. The book Science Verse is mostly making fun
of what you learn in school.
Max,
Grade 4, Northern
This story is about a boy who
thought he got a science verse; his teacher said if you listen closely then you
can hear the poetry of science in everything.
The next day he heard the poetry, in fact, he heard everything in
Science Verse. He had the curse of the
science verse. Read Science Verse and
check out his awesome adventures.
Chianne,
Grade 4, Northern
This book is about a boy and
he thinks his science teacher, Mr. Newton, has zapped a curse of science. He falls asleep and dreams of science. You would think this book would be
boring. I hate science and I loved this
book! I know what you’re
thinking: this book is going to be dumb,
but you know what they say: don’t
judge a science book by its cover. Yes I
would recommend this book because like I said, this book is not an old science
book but a hip funny science book.
Kaitlyn,
Grade 4, Northern
This book Science Verse is
about a boy who falls asleep in his science class and dreams about himself
rhyming and saying poetry. All he talks
about is Science, and Science, and more Science. Some poems aren’t necessarily all about
Science, but most of it is. The boy
talks about his teacher Mr. Newton. This
story is more than just poetry—it’s fun poetry! I would recommend this book to you, if you
like poetry and science mixed together.
I’m not good in science or poetry, and I still loved this book!

The author of Science Verse
is John Scieszka. Science Verse is a non-fiction
book. This story is about science n funny ways. For example the author changed
the song , “I’ve been working on the
railroad’’ to ‘’I’ve been working on the food
chain.’’ There are a lot of pictures. There is a boy that
narrates the storyies and poems. I like this story
because the author made fun of songs by changing them. I would recommend this
book 5 stars for 4th,5th, and 6th graders. Younger
children would not understand it.

Jon gets bored in science class and gets a bad case of “Science
Verse.” Will he heal? Hey, I’m not telling. I think this is a good
book and you would to.

I read Science Verse by Jon Scieszka. This book
is full of nonsense poems, like Evolution, Twink, and
lots more. The poems are hilarious, and
the pictures too. I recommend this book
to you because it will make you fall out of your seat! I hope that you enjoy
this fiction book. Oh yeah, I recommend
it for 2nd grade and up.
Jessica,
Grade 4,
Science Verse by Jon Scieszka is funny because it takes poems and puts science
in them. The kid has a science curse
that makes everything sound like a poem.
The genre is poetry. With wacky
poems, it is so funny. His teacher said
you can make poems out of anything. You
should read the book if you like wacky and very silly poems. I liked the book because I like funny things.
Kasey,
Grade 4,
Science Verse, by Jon Scieszka, is a non-fiction poetry book. It was very funny. Pictures are an important part of this book
because the pictures show what the words say in an even funnier way. Some of the science things that the book
makes fun of are dinosaurs, black holes, evolution, and the food chain. I liked this book because the poems made fun
of different things in science. You
should read this book because it’s funny.
You also might learn something about science.
