Weslandia by Paul Fleishman.  Grades 4-6

Weslandia is a book about a boy named Wesley. Wesley is a boy who everybody hates. He wont get his hair cut like the other boys. He had no friends. One night a strange plant gets planted in his yard. If you think it sounds good, you've got to read it.

John L. , Grade 4
Hope Valley School, Chariho

Weslandia is a wonderful book by Paul Fleischman.  I like it because the boy in the book is adventurous and exciting.  What's different about this boy named Wesley is he hates pizza and soda and he does not have any friends.  The story is about how this boy turns over an area of land and throws some different kinds of seeds over it.  In the morning he finds out what he's grown.  He grew all different flowers and he learns how to get what he needs to survive.  This is a fantasy book.

Carissa A., Grade 4
Hope Valley School, Chariho

Weslandia is a great book because a boy named Wesley who hates pizza and soda learns to live his own life.  Its interesting because Wesley just turned over a plot of grass and dirt and poof the next day there were a lot of strange looking flowers.  Wesley also learned how to live with the strange flowers making clothes and food for himself.  The genre of this book is fantasy.

Once there was a boy.  He was not like any other boy.  But he was smart. One day he had a great idea that he would plant a flower garden.  So he did.  He waited and waited day after day.  Finally one day it grew so big.  The next day he stated making juice, bug repellent, and blankets from the plant.  He sold the bug repellent for $10 a bottle.  All of the bullies bought some. He also made up some new games.  From that day on he even slept under the plants.  He called his garden Westlandia.  I really liked this book.  It is a really good book.
