This book is a biography, so it's non-fiction. This
takes place in 1915. Marian was black. She was a very talented
singer. People wouldn't let her sing in some places because of the
color of her skin. Marian wanted to sing in her home town, in the Metropolitan
Opera House. This book has illustrations. They are a very important
part of the book. The book inspires. Other people should read
it because it shows how someone can succeed. Marian becomes famous…
but can she get
her wish?

When Marian Sang is a great biography book about an African-American girl who wants to sing opera. Her wonderful voice brings her fame and happiness. When Marian Sang is in Philadelphia's past, Marian goes to Washington to fulfill her dream... but you have to read it to find out! I liked this book because of its great painted illustrations. Also, it teaches a good lesson: Never give up. I recommend this book to 3-6 grades. When Marian sang is an outstanding book.

This book is about a little African American girl who LOVES to sing. When she wanted to take singing lessons no one would let her because she was black. This would not stop her from singing. This book was good because it shows you you can do anything if you set your mind to it. It also shows you that your skin color doesn't matter but what your good at.

"When Marian Sang she was like the birds singing. Marian was so good that she went to a chorus called "People Chorus". With the help of her friends she got an audition with the famous Giuseppe Boghetti. Well, I can't tell you more because I might spoil it. Bye!!"
