Online Projects

Projects organized by starting times. This site also allows you to create and submit a project with ease. Many elementary projects are found here.

Using GIS and online mapping sites, students create profiles of their communities. Some projects address issues of environmental concern and use maps to illustrate the problem and offer solutions.
IECC
IECC is intended for teachers seeking partner classrooms for international and cross-cultural electronic mail exchanges. Many projects run annually.

This site promotes many excellent projects which have a focus on volunteerism and humanitarianism.
Global School Net
A one-stop project site. Browse past projects or preview upcoming ones. From easy to comples ther is a project for everyone here!


UN CyberSchoolBus
A very comprehensive site. Interactive sections in Quiz Quad and changing projects. Current project is one on Global Human Rights.


RI Teachers in Technology
This site has lessons in all curriculum areas developed last summer and this summer by RI teachers involved in the RI Foundation technology initiative. In addition to some excellent projects there are numerous resources which should be useful as you integrated technology into your curriculum.

Developing Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills: Webquests


Webquests are a great way to investigate geographic topics. They force students to examine topics from different points of view and arrive at their own conclusions. The links below show both the "how to" of webquests and give some examples of webquests you may want to try with your classes.

Using the Web to Expand Our Horizons: Virtual Field Trips



There are many excellent sites which allow us to visit remote sites virtually using the power of the Internet. Here are a few of them:

CARE : This site has links to about a dozen virtual tours, mostly in Latin America and Africa

An excellent list which sends weekly lists of Blue Ribbon sites. Inevitalby there are sites which are great for geography. Directions on how to subscibe are found on the Blue Web'n site

Classroom Connect


Classroom connect is an excellent classroom resource. An extremely useful magazine is published 10 times yearly with great projects, sites and tips for using technology. In addition they maintain a web site and a list serv. You may subscribe to the list at the Classroom Connect Site. While you are there you will want to look around and check out the site!
