Quonset Point March 11, 2010 --------------------------------------------------- RIMTA Designer Math Contest May 8, 2010 -------------------------------------------------------------------- NCTM E-Workshops (RIMTA/STEM sponsored) The Rhode Island Mathematics Teachers Association and The Rhode Island STEM Center at RI College Cordially invite you to participate in NCTM E-Workshops 2010 Meeting the Needs of ALL Students Using Differentiated Instruction In grades 6 -12 February 8 and March 22 (Code : DS), 2010 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meeting the Needs of ALL Students Using Differentiated Instruction In grades Pre K- 5 February 11 and March 25 (Code : DE), 2010 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Making Mathematical Connections In grades 9 -12 February 23 and April 13 (Code : MC), 2010 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each two-session E-workshop is from 4 - 5:30, includes workshop packets, and is held at The RI STEM Center at RI College, Henry Barnard School, 2nd Floor E-WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS DE & DS: NCTM is committed to equity in mathematics; every student should be provided with the tools needed to meet high mathematics expectations. Possible student barriers to learning and useful strategies in addressing these barriers are identified. Classroom activities with suggested modifications to address the varied needs of all students are provided.MC: NCTM’s 2009-2010 Focus of the Year is Connections: Linking Concepts and Context. When students connect mathematical ideas, their understanding is deeper and more lasting. Examples will connect mathematics to real world contexts, technology, and various subject areas. Activities, strategies, and lessons that can be implemented in the classroom to help students make mathematical connections are provided.
