Two Faces of ePortfolios – Dr.
Helen Barrett. In
the IMS ePortfolio Standards you find the concept of two different
types of portfolio structures: the Working Portfolio, which
some have called the "portfolio
as workspace"; and any number of Presentation/Assessment
Portfolios (created for different purposes and audiences) which
some have called the "portfolio as showcase." In
practice, the working portfolio is more of a formative conversation
about learning (with feedback); the other is more about a summative
presentation of achievements (with evaluation). This keynote
will address how to balance both approaches for better student
learning and engagement while meeting institutional accountability
