1. Filtering
The RFP for filtering is in the final stages of preparation. Several minor modifications were suggested. It will be sent out early next week for return by January 16, 2001. Following an initial review, finalists will be asked to present their proposals to a group of stakeholders.
2. CSU/DSU
The quest to convince Verizon that CSU/DSUs ought to continue to be supported by the pool does not seem to be moving forward. Bill suggested that RINET ought to take over maintenance of this equipment for direct connections in a self-insure model. RINET also ought to offer districts the opportunity to purchase this equipment for connections within clouds. Bill will prepare communications to schools/districts informing them of the status of this issue.
3. Director of Educational Technology Programs and Services
Minor changes to the position description were made. Sharon will organize all aspects of the search and bring recommendations to the Board.
4. Dial-up and RINET Services Bid
Norm will develop the bids for services and reevaluate the list of services for completeness and SLD compliance.
5. Evaluation of Melanie Turcotte
Norm distributed his evaluation of Melanie. Sharon will review the evaluation and make any further recommendations to the Board regarding salary increase and the development of expectations and goals.
6. Virus Test
All RINET email is currently being run through the Network Associates virus scan. There have been no complications. Messages that have an associated virus are returned to the sender.
