RINET provides electronic mailing list services to all Rhode Island teachers, administrators, and support personnel exclusively for educational purposes.

Become a List Owner!!!

There are over 400 lists created and stored on the RINET server by teachers, administrators, and support personnel to support educational endeavors.  The lists support a variety of purposes such as:

Becoming a list owner is an uncomplicated process. Simply fill out a List Request Form, and send it electronically to the Lists Coordinator (rcq256@etal.uri.edu). Normally, the turn-around time between receiving the request and creating a list is within 24 hours.

Mailing List Commands


To customize the list software (ListServ), send an e-mail message to the ListServ address. All commands go to the ListServ address.

For lists stored on the RINET mail server, the ListServ address is:

LISTSERV@LISTSERV.RI.NET
For lists stored on the URI mail server, the ListServ address is:
LISTSERV@PETE.URI.EDU
To subscribe to a list that is stored on the RINET server that has a List Name of SCIENCE-L, address a message to the RINET ListServ address:
LISTSERV@LISTSERV.RI.NET
NOTE: Whenever sending a command message always leave the SUBJECT line blank and turn your SIGNATURE file off.

In the body of your message write:

SUBSCRIBE SCIENCE-L first_name last_name
where SUBSCRIBE is the command, SCIENCE-L is the List Name, and your first_name is your first name and last_name is your last name.
