Internet Access E-Mail and Dial Up Personalize E-Mail
To make your RINET email address easier to remember, you may select a personalized email address. The personalized address is an alias that points to your numbered RINET account. It is not a second email account.
Email sent to the personalized address will be delivered to the real account that you specify as the Delivery Address. When you set up the personalized address, you will be required to enter a Delivery Address. Most likely, you will want the Delivery Address to be your original numbered RINET account.
For example, if Jane's actual RINET account is rid0000@ride.ri.net, she can create a personalized address such as janesmith@mail.ri.net using the form linked below. She then selects rid0000@ride.ri.net as the Delivery Address. This means that when I send an email to janesmith@mail.ri.net, it will show up in Jane's rid0000@ride.ri.net inbox.
Important notes:
- Your personalized email address is @mail.ri.net not
@ride.ri.net
- Your personalized name can be up to 30 alphanumeric characters
plus underscores.
- You email client (e.g. Outlook) should still be configured
to check mail for your Delivery Address. Email sent to the
personalized alias will automatically be delivered into
the inbox.
- Please adhere to any policy your school or district has
instituted to govern your choice of personalized email address
(e.g., firstname_lastname).
- Pointing your personalized email address to another email address will not affect mail sent to your rid#####@ride.ri.net address.
