RINET Dial-up Instructions
Windows Vista (Updated 11/26/07 )

Step 1. Creating an automated Script File

Note: Be aware, if someone were to open this script file on your machine,
they will be able to see your RINET ID and PASSWORD.

1.1 The script file contains your user name and password, which are used in the interaction with the mail server to authenticate your connection. This script will be stored on your computer in a Windows folder that requires administrative access. If you do not have administrator's rights to your computer, then contact your system administrator. If saving the file to the stated Windows folder proves to be impossible, then it can be stored in the user's documents folder. Create a folder in My Documents called "Scripts" and save it there.

1.2 Highlight the following text

proc main
waitfor ":"
transmit "RINETID^M"
waitfor ":"
transmit "PASSWORD^M"
waitfor ">"
transmit "ppp^M"
endproc

Press CTRL C to copy the selected text

1.3 Open Notepad

Click on the Start Button
Select All Programs
Select Accessories
Select Notepad

1.4 Press CTRL V to paste the text into Notepad

1.5 Edit the file

Overwrite RINETID with your own RINETID (e.g., ride1234)
[Now that line would be: transmit "ride1234^M"]
And overwrite PASSWORD with your PASSWORD (e.g. donkey48)
[Now that line wold be: transmit "donkey48^M"]
Be sure you enter your RINETID and password exactly,
including upper and lower case letters

The computer will dial just like a phone, if you need a local access code or want to enter a line feature you should enter it in the phone number field. Use a comma for a "pause".

(example: If you dial 9 to get an external line enter 9,455-0268
or if you dial *70 to cancel call waiting, enter *70,455-0268)

(Note: you can make more than one dialing icon if you need to.
Example, you might make one to dial from home and another to dial from the your office or a hotel.)

It is not necessary to enter User name or Password information here

In the Connection name field
Enter RINET (This will name the connection - you can name it anything you want)
