Products & Services Internet Access Overview

Direct High Speed Connections vs. Dial-up:

RINET is encouraging schools and libraries to connect to the Internet via high speed direct connections that do not depend on dial-up lines and modem banks. We offer connections at 56kbps, 384kbps, and 1.5mbps(T1) speeds. For information regarding no-charge institutional direct-dial modem lines, school and library officials should contact Bill Fiske at the Rhode Island Department of Education. Inquiries regarding high-speed, direct frame relay connections should be directed either to RINET's Fiscal Analyst, Melanie Turcotte or to RINET's Manager of Network Operations and Services, Mike Calabro.
