Videoconferencing Polycom Upgrade Instructions
It is important to keep you Polycom updated with the most current
software version. Select System Information on your Polycom to determine
the software version of your Polycom.
In order to upgrade your Operating System on your Polycom, you will
need:
The IP address of the Polycom to be updated
Access to that IP address from your computer (you do not need to be located in the same place)
The ADMIN password for the Polycom to be upgraded
The Polycom to be upgraded must be turned on (it must not be turned off during this procedure)
STEP 1: Open your Internet Browser (Internet Explorer 6.0
or better is recommended) Go to: www.Polycom.com.
Select: Downloads
STEP 2: Select: Video Products
STEP 3: Scroll to the section regarding your Polycom model
(Probably Viewstation FX/VS4000) Select the newest software release
code (read notes first, if desired)
The newest release code is 6.0.5.
STEP 4: You must login. Enter your User Id and Password. Go To Step 6.
If you do not have a User Id and Password, select New User Account. Go to Step 5.
STEP 5: Enter your information to obtain a User Id and Password.
STEP 6: Select the Video.
STEP 7: Select Viewstation Ex, FX & VS-4000 Downloads
STEP 8: Select the most current software version available. - Release 6.0.5.
STEP 9: Save the file to your computer.
STEP 10: Open the Folder
STEP 11: Right click on the folder and select Extract All to
unzip the files.
STEP 12: Double click the Softupdate application
STEP 13: You will see the following screen
STEP 14: Enter the Polycom's IP address and Admin Password (case sensitive)
Select OK
STEP 15: Press OK to continue.
Please note: the Polycom will show activity on it's screen, You
may want to notify someone if you are updating a remote unit. Once
the program starts, they must not turn off the power or try to initiate
a call. The update program may take as long as 20 minutes
