Technical Guidelines
Site LAN Connectivity
All switches in IP video path should be set to 100 Mbps Full Duplex
Do not allow your Polycom to auto-negotiate LAN speed or duplexing options
Do not use 10 Mbps switches in your IP video path.
Do not use Hubs in your IP video path.
Use high quality CAT5 or better cables between all devices
Do not exceed 100 meters (300 feet) on any Ethernet Segment
Avoid the use of repeaters (repeaters result in latency in your videoconferences)
Virus protection and latest OS upgrades on all network machines
to minimize the effect of unwanted traffic.
Polycom FX Unit
Be sure to plug into a 100Mbps Full duplex LAN port
If unit is behind a firewall, your LAN Administrator should check www.polycom.com for configuration
suggestions. Anytime a firewall change is made, a test call should
be placed to the Polycom from within the firewall and from outside
the firewall.
Maintain
Polycom equipment IOS (operating system). RINET recommends that
the IOS is updated at least every 12 months.
