You will need to have Administrator access to complete this procedure.

Step 1. Open the System Preferences and click on the Network button.

Step 2.Make sure the Show: menu is set to Internal Modem. Click on the TCP/IP. Make sure the Configure: pull down menu is set to Using PPP. The domain name servers for RINET are 131.109.31.100 and 128.148.128.9.The Search Domain should be ride.ri.net(See illustration below).

Step 3. Click the PPP tab. Enter RINET in the Service Provider field. The telephone number is 455-0268 for all RINET modems.

Enter your User_ID in the Account Name field (e.g, ride1234). See illustration below. Type in your password in the Password field and click the Save Password checkbox if you do not want to type in your password manually each time you dial.

Click on the PPP Options button. Most of these are up to your personal preference, but you MUST have the option for Connect using a terminal window (command line) checked. Click OK when you are finished.

Click Apply Now and go to the File Menu and choose Quit to exit the System Preferences. Click Save when prompted.

Step 4. Go to your Applications folder and open the program Internet Connect.

Make sure the Configuration: pull down menu is set to Internal Modem. Depending on the version of the software you are using, your phone number may already be filled in for you. If it is not, please type it in. Also, fill in your Password in the Password field.

Step 5.Click Connect. You should hear the phone dialing and then connecting. You may or may not see some text appear.If you do, it should say RINETID: Either way, please type in your RINETID now, e.g., ride1234. Press return, and then type in your password. Press return again.

Now, at the C5300-1.ri.net> prompt, type ppp and hit return. Some text will flash across the screen and the window will then close. You are now connected.
