First Grade is an exciting place to be. It
is truly a year of growth and change. Many new concepts and skills
will be introduced. Maximum learning occurs when teacher, student
and parents work together to help your child master all the new skills
and concepts. Understanding what happens and what is expected on
a day to day basis will better enable us to work together. The best
way to do this is to keep you the parent, informed and involved.
If you ever have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to set
up an appointment. I am available most afternoons after school, or
before school.

Grades
Papers will come home home with a score of 1-5
given. A score of 5 represents total mastery, 2 (two) represents
the student still needs practice and a 1 (one) shows the skill has not
yet been mastered.
Agenda
This book will be used daily by your child to
send home his or her homework assignments in the front pocket. At
this time, all you will see is a reading assignment and math homework.
You may see a little note every now and then. The calendar in the agenda
should be used to record the students 60 minutes of reading per week. Please
send the agenda to school daily and sign it weekly. The use of the
agenda will help the children learn responsibility.
Behavior Plan
Each day a child starts with a clean slate.
When they break a rule they get their initials on
the board.
initials on the board = a warning
1 check = silent snack
2 checks=silent lunch
3 checks =loss of recess and a note home to parents.

Birthday Information
When your child celebrates his/her birthday,
you may send in a treat for the class to enjoy.
If you plan to do this, please send in a note to let
us know in advance.

You are the Apple of
our eye!!
Thank You so much for all
you do for our first grade class. Thank You for all the lunch helpers
we have. Thank You for responding so wonderfully each time we are
in need of things for our classroom. We believe that without your
incredible support our first grade would not be as awesome as it is
A few reminders
-
Please make
sure your child reads the stories sent home in their agendas and sign them.
They should be sent back in their folder. Once, I have sent them back in
the folder, they can stay at home to practice reading. You may want to
keep them in a special place. They contain the "words of the week" and
are great to practice at home.
-
Donations are now being accepted
for treasure box prizes.
-
The class is
always excepting donations of straws, papertowels, cleaning supplies, etc.
