Welcome! As the new year begins, there are a number of
details that need to be addressed. Below is a list containing classroom
procedures, the needed materials and how grades will be determined.
1. Procedures
-
the classroom rules are exactly the same as the school rules
outlined in the student handbook. Please familiarize yourself with the
rules.
-
all materials should be in class daily. There is no reason
to leave the room once class has started unless it is an emergency.
-
all notes, homework, quizzes, and tests go in an organized
math binder.
-
it is extremely important that all students develop good
note taking skills. This involves both the accurate taking of notes and
the copying of sample problems from the chalkboard.
-
homework is assigned daily. With the exception of the nights
before quizzes or tests, homework is assigned. It should be done in pencil
and at home. Any assignment from the book and all worksheets should be
in your math binder and ready to be checked.
-
a test or quiz will be given weekly. Thursday is test day.
-
extra credit assignments are given. They are limited in number
and fairly involved. To get the assignments, click on your grade at the
bottom of this page.
2. Materials
-
textbook
-
binder with homework and notebook
-
pencils
-
protractor, ruler and compass (when required)
3. Grading
-
test average is 40%
-
quiz average is 40%
-
homework average is 20%. Homework takes two forms. It may
be assigned from the testbook. The following day in class it is checked
in class for completeness. It may also be a worksheet. These may be checked
for completeness or they may be collected and graded. Any failing grade
may be brought up to a passing grade if the student corrects the assignment
and returns it by the return date.
