will be held on December 2nd, 2009 (see documents and forms below)
(11/18) Many thanks to
those of you who have already volunteered to judge the Science Fair!
We are still in need of more judges, so please email me at tanguayscience@verizon.net
if you are able to help. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!!! Judging
will be held from 12:00 - 4:00 (if necessary - I would like to have it
done earlier, if possible), but if your schedule doesn't work with those
times, other times can be arranged. Feel free to bring a friend~
:o)
(11/16) Backboards are in! Students have been purchasing backboards and can continue to do so each day during class. The cost of the board is $3.00 and it will be available to go home the day it is purchased. All classes have thoroughly reviewed backboard and abstract writing. A guideline has been handed out as well. All students have been given a presentation date. Students must bring the following to class on the day they present:
.
ALL PROJECTS MUST COME IN AND GO HOME THE DAY THE STUDENT
PRESENTS AND MUST COME BACK THE DAY OF THE FAIR.
(11/6) Mrs. Lavioe has ordered backboards... They will be in as soon as Miller Corrugated has them ready! I will let students know the cost as soon as possible. In class
presentations will be held during the week of Thanksgiving break as well
as the week of the Science Fair. Students will be assigned a day
to present, at which time the research paper, backboard and the project/lab
must be completed and ready for grading. Please encourage your child
to continue working and to see me if they have any questions. I am
in my room nearly every day by 7:00am, during lunch/recess and can be available
after school with notice. I can also be reached by email at tanguayscience@verizon.net.
Students are off to a great start with their Science Fair projects! Topics have been chosen and many students have begun projects and research. Students with questions or concerns should continue to see me during lunch, email me (tanguayscience@verizon.net) or make an appointment to visit with me before or after school. All students received instruction on how to write the research paper, including proper format for citations using MLA. Mrs. Brusic and I both felt that learning other styles of citation are unecessary at this time as the students' level of research is at a very early stage. If your child has misplaced the worksheet that outlines the research paper, please have them see me as soon as possible.
Research paper due dates: Grade 8:
November 25th
PLEASE
MAKE SURE YOU SAVE A COPY OF THE RESEARCH PAPER ON YOUR COMPUTER.
I WILL BE MAKING CORRECTIONS ON THE COPY THAT IS HANDED IN AND A NEW, CLEAN
COPY WILL BE NEEDED FOR PRESENTATION THE DAY OF THE FAIR!
