Dear Mark:

I am writing you this letter in regards to the ad that you placed in the Saturday November 20, 1999 issue of The Providence Journal, concerning a full-time job for an administrative assistant.

This position would be well-suited for me because I have many years of experience with Microsoft Word, and Excel, and I worked with technicians at CompUSA, repairing and rebuilding hard drives on many of their computers. If there was a problem with the computer, I would be skilled enough to repair it and getting it working once again. I am also a very skilled typist. I wouldn't have to keep going back to fix mistakes that I have made, so my work would be done quickly and very efficient. I have countless recommendations from the managers at CompUSA, and previous employers, and I have enclosed the names and numbers of my employers, so you may contact them for references.

I can be reached by phone, my cell phone, and if you cannot reach me by these methods, feel free to email me. My phone number is (401) xxx-xxxx, my cell is xxx-xxxx, and my email address xxxx@__.com. Thank you for considering me for this position, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Mr. Mark B____

Attn: Mark

Dear Mr. B____,

I am writing in the hopes of being accepted for the position of administrative assistant for your contractor, in response to your advertisement in the Providence Daily regarding the position. I am attatching my CV and resumé for your perusal also, to give you an idea of just how qualified I am for this job. I hope you will take the time to look through it.

As my resumé will certainly show you, I have extensive knowledge and field experience in clerical tasks and other areas of office management. Before becoming a part-time manager at tax consultant <name>'s office during my four years of at Johnson & Wales, I had taken six intensive courses in customer service and computer applications, two at my high school in North Smithfield and four at Johnson & Wales. Apart from this, I was also Return Services & Shipment part-time manager at Lechmere, and I volunteered for a total of 50 hours during the summer of my junior year at college at Harvard Children's Hospital. There, and also at the ever-busy Lechmere, I effectively managed the backroom office and maintained calm and level-headedness while I filled out orders, patient dismissal forms, and entered patient entry and dismissal information (using the Microsoft Word program); at Lechmere I also received the Best Manager of The Year award for my excellence in leadership, efficiency and computer expertise.

Having just graduated from college, and in need of at least three years' experience as clerk and manager, I can work full-time as assistant administrator, and I wait only for notice from you.

Please do read over my resumé, and list of references. I will call you within a few days to see if we can arrange an interview. I look forward to hearing from you.

Most sincerely,
