SIT Purpose Statement

Goal

All Aquidneck students will read and write throughout
the content areas (math, social studies, science and health). Students will develop a clear purpose with in
their organized writing by using effective sentence construction and meaningful
vocabulary.

¦ We maintain a strong “SIT”- School Improvement Team-
with a focus on student learning
¦ We are a school committed to Learning Walks and the
Principles of Learning.
¦ We had six teachers participate in the SLIP initiative
(Science and Literacy Integration Project).
¦ We have two teachers working to attain National Board
Certification.
¦ We have Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop in all
classrooms at Aquidneck.
¦ We have been conducting lesson study as part of our
professional development.

The School Improvement Team (SIT) plan
focuses on improving instruction in reading, writing and problem solving in
Math. These goals were created using
state test data. Our short and
long-range goals and targets are data driven and we are diligent in not varying
from our instructional plan.
