Starting March 9, 2007, Middletown Public Schools will offer parents the opportunity to pay for their school fees online through a service called Café Prepay.  Parents can make payments toward their student’s lunch account using their Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card or by direct withdrawal from their checking account.  A minimal handling fee added to each transaction helps keep the service free to the school district.  This fee covers the processing costs imposed by the credit card company, bank transfer fees, as well as the cost of maintaining the website.

Café Prepay is fast and easy to use.  Parents must first sign up at the website address, www.CafePrepay.com.  From then on, when an online payment is made, parents receive confirmation via email.  For this reason, a valid email address is required.  The school receives notification of the payments by fax and/or email each day.

The website’s popularity is growing with school districts as well as with busy parents throughout the country.  Many parents who use the service find it a convenient alternative to sending money to school with their children.  Others simply prefer to pay with a credit card or want to pay for all school fees with one easy payment.  Middletown Public Schools will still accept cash or checks for school fees.
