Safety
· In 1993, temporary columns were designed to stabilize the shifting Northwest wall of the Northeast wing. These columns where needed to shore up the wall and roof structure. These columns are now displaced from their original position due to the continued movement.
· Corridor ceiling/roof between the school's classrooms located in the Northeast Wing is seriously damaged and has the "potential for total collapse" under heavy loading (e.g.: heavy snow load, repair personnel, fire fighters, etc). Temporary wood framing made to support this area was improperly designed. This support system would not work under heavy loading.
· Deflected (bowing or twisting) and cracked roof/ceiling panels can be seen throughout the school. They have continued to deflect and crack since the engineer's last inspection in 1991. These panels have the potential for failure.
· Asphalt can be seen dripping into classrooms between roof/ceiling panels. This is a sign that the panels may have sheared the roof system.
· The Southwest exterior wall is fractured and lateral displacement can be observed.
· Concrete loading dock platform is severely deteriorated. In addition, the concrete roof panels over the loading dock shows signs of deterioration.
· Concrete roof panels over the playground entrance canopy shows signs of water infiltration.
· Concrete foundation wall at the Southwest corner of the Southwest wing in significantly fractured. In addition, two retaining walls are deteriorated need reconstruction.
· Wood window casings and frames throughout the school are severely rotted. Total replacement of all windows is needed.
· Concrete walking areas around the school have large surface cracks and differential displacement. This could pose a trip hazard.
· Children must walk by boiler room to access cafeteria.
· Gas Main and Electrical Main located in one room.
· Inadequate ventilation causing poor air quality.
· Air conditioning platforms located in some classrooms in poor condition.
· Downspouts and gutter systems in need of repair and/or replacement
Education
· This school is comprised of only 10 classrooms
· The nurse's station is inadequate and does not meet code.
· Lacks infrastructure for today's technology (e.g.: inadequate electrical, data lines, etc.)
· Library is undersized
· Inadequate amount of space available for Special Services (Speech, guidance, resource, etc.) resulting in the overlap of schedules.
Other
· Electrical system still using fuses, not circuit breakers.
· Hazardous materials (asbestos, lead paint) present.
· Not handicap accessible by today's standards.
· Does not meet current fire codes.
· Urinals are obsolete. They are gravity feed and therefore run continuously.
