Religious Freedom: These are the religions in Ireland: Roman Catholic 87.4%, Church of Ireland 2.9%, other Christian 1.9%, other 2.1%, unspecified 1.5%, none 4.2%. There is a lot of fighting between Ireland and northern Ireland on this topic.

Government Structure:

Ireland’s government is as republic and a parliamentary democracy.   Like America they have 3 branches of government, Judicial, Executive, and Legislative.   The executive is both the prime minister and the prime minister.   The judicial is just like our, it is just the supreme court.   Their Legislative branch is their Parliament, which is a lot like our congress.  Their parliament consists of 60 seats.

Economic Status:

Ireland is a fairly poor country, people there get paid and average of $46, 600 which is higher than it was 2 years ago.   Also their unemployment rate is 6.2%. That is very high for a country of Ireland’s size! Also this country is importing more than they are exporting causing them to be losing money instead of making it. So there debt is just getting greater and greater by the minute.

Human Rights Violations:

An incident happened in 1972 that is known in Ireland as “Bloody Sunday.” This is when twenty-seven human rights activists were shot by British by members of the 1st Battalion of the British Parachute Regiment. This took place in Derry, Northern Ireland. Thirteen People, 7 of whom were teenagers, were killed in this massacre.

  Country Overview

I choose Ireland because it is a beautiful country with a unique form of government. In Ireland the locals call it Eire. It is off the coast of the U.K. and part of Europe.   In Ireland they mainly speak English but do have a distinct accent.   They also speak Irish and Celtic in some areas Ireland.   Irelands people are very well educated, 99% of their population over the age of 15 can read and write.

Education:

In Ireland they have a very good education system.   The school life expectancy rate in Ireland is 18 years. This mean most children stay in school for 18 or through high school and many go on to college.   99% of Irish people over the age of 15 can either read, write, or both.   Also 4.7% of the countries GDP is spent on education, so 4.7% of the money the country make from taxes, exports ex. goes to schools.

Resolution: To solve the problem in my country a religious treaty must be signed between Ireland and North Ireland. This treaty must say that they will no longer fight over religious beliefs and that people can’t believe in what they want to.
Other:
The current environmental problems in Ireland are water pollution, especially of lakes, from agricultural runoff. This can seem bad but it’s not as bad as other countries where the have serious environmental problems.
