Claudia Carlson Vars is the director of Fine Arts for the Middletown Public Schools as well as the vocal music director at Middletown High School where she conducts both the high school chorus and select choral ensemble.
Mrs. Vars received her Bachelor of Music Education degree with a vocal
emphasis from the University of Rhode Island and her Masters of Music
and Supervisor of Music Certificate from Rhode Island College, Central
Connecticut State University, and Hartt School of Music, Hartford Connecticut.
Mrs. Vars holds a professional membership in the Music Education National
Conference and the American Choral Directors Association. She has been
an active member of the Rhode Island Music Education Association for many
years, serving on the RIMEA Executive Board for the past ten years. She
has been chairperson for many festivals, All - State choruses and the recording
secretary for the board. Mrs. Vars has served as President of Rhode Island
Music Educators from 1998 - 2000. Presently she holds the office of Past
President on the Executive Board, is chairperson of the RIMEA State Choral
Festival and vocal coordinator of the all-state audition process.
Mrs. Vars resides with her husband Rick in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
