GAUDET ROBOTICS TEAMS SCORE

Congratulations to four teams of Gaudet students who earned medals at the statewide “First Lego League RI State Robotics Tournament” on Saturday, January 4th at East Providence High School. At the tournament these teams competed with their robots on an extremely challenging obstacle course, and gave both technical and research presentations and designs for a robotic solution to a problem they researched to a panel of judges comprised of engineers.

Team “Middletown Islanders”, with Douglas B, Connor B, Eddie D, Jon J, Christina K, Brendan L, Margaret M, Callan M, Joshua S, Tim S, Sarah S, Christian S, and Ryan S earned a medal for 1st Place Robot Performance and 1st Place Research Quality. Team “Hollabak Pizer Boyz”, consisting of Jake A, Will N, Jonathon S, Chris W and Bridgette B, received a medal for 2nd Place Robot Performance. Team “City Shadow” was awarded a 2nd Place Innovative Robotic Solution: Patrick F, Michael G, Trevor K, Ryan M, Kyle N, Jamie S and Jordan W made up the team. A Teamwork Award went to the “Manhattan Maniacs”—Robert C, Lynette E, Cameron G, Tyler J, David P and Ben S.

Robotics activities have been supported in part by a district School to Career grant. Many thanks to Tom and Janice Kowalczyk, Sandy and George Steele and the many families who volunteered their time to make this a successful experience for our students.
