Calendar Changes . . .
Although the district adopted a calendar in May, the Department of Education informed us after school recessed for the summer that some dates needed to be addressed. Districts are now required to close schools for Election Day, November 5th, and some dates for high school seniors needed to be corrected. Because of the need to reduce the budget by $1.4 million, the four Professional Development days have been reduced to two in an effort to avoid cutting programs and personnel. The new calendar was distributed and is posted on the district Internet site, www.middletownri.com/calendar0203.html.
