Informal Chats with the Superintendent
Informal chats with the Superintendent have been scheduled at each school during the year, providing an opportunity for teachers to bring concerns and issues directly to central administrators. High School teachers met on September 24th and Gaudet teachers on October 23rd and identified some common interests among staff. The topics included:
The need for a Formal Transition Team for grades PreK- elementary, 4-5, 8-9 to be implemented;
Block Scheduling issues, particularly at Middletown High School;
Literacy Support;
Support for the whole child’s social/emotional/physical needs;
Attendance Policy;
Five-Day Schedules vs. Six-Day Schedules;
Inclusion;
Instructional Time at the Middle School;
Schools as Communities;
Teacher Assistant Training;
Technology;
Common Elementary Math Assessments;
District-Wide Grade Level Meetings.
Forest Avenue and Forest Avenue II are scheduled to host an informal chat on November 19th at 3:00; Aquidneck on January 21st at 3:00; Kennedy School on March 12th at 3:15; the High School on April 29th at 2:00; and Gaudet again on May 20th at 2:30.
