January 2004
Welcome to Notre Dame Regional School located at 2 St. Vincent de Paul Street in Coventry, Rhode Island. I am Deacon Thomas Raspallo, principal at Notre Dame Regional School. I began my tenure on Monday, January 5, 2004. Prior to that time I served as principal at the Cranston-Johnston Catholic Regional School in Cranston, RI from 1993 to 1998 and, after two years of retirement, I returned for two more years from 2000-2002. I began my career in 1962 after having received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Providence College followed by two years of military service. From 1962 to 1990 I taught in the Cranston Public School system, including 21 years as department chairman in Social Studies at the Western Hills Junior High School. Upon retiring in 1990, I remained in education with the Diocese of Providence from 1990-1998 and from 2000-2002, including the years as a principal as noted above.
On June 5, 1982 I was ordained a permanent deacon by former Bishop Louis Gelineau. For the past 22 years my ministry has been as chaplain at several nursing homes is Rhode Island as well as within my own parish, Immaculate Conception Parish, in Cranston. In August 2004 my wife and I will celebrate our 39th Anniversary with our four adult children, spouses and two grandsons (with a third on the way).
I look forward to my tenure as principal here at Notre Dame Regional School, and with the help, support and prayers of everyone in the Notre Dame “family,” I hope to provide the leadership necessary to make available to our students an excellent Catholic education. With the help of everyone in the “family” – students, faculty, administration, parents and board members – and trusting in the goodness of Our Lord, Jesus, to bless our efforts, we will be successful.
God bless you!
Yours in Christ,
Deacon Thomas Raspallo
