Our students have appeared in the local papers recently. We are all quite pleased with our students' dedication to the Community.
Our Applause to J.W.! - First Grader J.W. wins an award from the National Federation of the Blind. (Spring 2006)
Coins for Katrina - Students at Ashton Elementary School emptied their piggy banks to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Monetary donations were collected until September 16 and then sent to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund. Thanksgiving Food Drive - Ashton's 5th-grade students helped organize 17 boxes of food that were donated to local families for Thanksgiving. (Fall 2005)
Mitten Project - Third graders in Mrs. Hanuschak's class organized a hat and mitten drive to benefit the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center. With assistance from Kim Hatch, the school's speech and language therapist, the students encouraged school wide donations through fliers, posters, and daily announcements. Through their efforts, more than 100 items were collected for the center. (Fall/Winter 2005)
