National Junior Honor Society

Archie R. Cole Middle School's National Junior Honor Society recognizes outstanding students whom have achieved excellence in five areas: character, scholarship leadership, service and citizenship. To be eligible for consideration for membership, student must have an A- (4.5) average. Selection for membership is by a faculty council and is based upon outstanding performance in those five areas. Students are invited to apply by completing an activity form with their parents. This form allows students to list their previous activities, awards, honors, and experiences.

Once this data is gathered, a faculty selection committee evaluates the information on each student and chooses those students with outstanding characteristics in the areas of service, citizenship, leadership, scholarship and character. This process begins after the second quarter marking period, which ends in January.

Students and parents are notified of their selection to the Society and an Induction Ceremony is held for these nominees and their parents, usually in May. Some of the activities the NJHS is involved with include: reading of announcements, fund-raisers to provide items for needy families, the New Student Orientation for 6th graders in May, and New Student Orientation before the first day of school.
