Cole Academic Teams



Mrs. Linda Alix teaches 7th and 8th grade French. She was born in East Greenwich and went  to East Greenwich High School. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island. She is interested in theater, dance, travel, reading, and boating and is currently a co-advisor of the Student Council.


Ms. Elissa Berger is the social studies teacher on the Blue Team. She was born in Hartford and has  a bachelor's degree and a Master of Arts in Teaching from James Madison University.



Mrs. Mary Berger is the School Nurse.  She is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo and received her Masters Degree from the University of Connecticut. She enjoys reading, cooking, and outdoor sports.


  Miss Marissa Borrelli is a 7th grade English teacher on the Green Team. She was born in Massachusetts and attended Wheaton College where she got a B.A in English literature and creative writing. She also has a M. Ed in Secondary Education from Providence College. Her hobbies are singing, world travel and cultures, and reading suspenseful novels. Mr. Richard Brenner is the school psychologist who works with students as needed.

 


 
Mr Anthony Burnett-Testa is a 7th grade science teacher on the Yellow Team. He also runs the Outdoor Club. He was born in Cortland, New York and graduated from the State University of New York at Oneonta. Miss Melissa Costa teaches 8th grade math on the Blue Team. She was born in Pawtucket and has a B.A. degree from Rhode Island College. Her hobbies are watching movies, shopping, and spending time outdoors playing volleyball,tennis and golf.
Mrs. Rosemary Crocker is one of our reading teachers. She was born in Providence and bachelor's and master's degrees from Rhode Island College. She enjoys gardening, kayaking, hiking and of course, reading!


 

Mr. Frank Cybulski (Mr. Cy) is a special education teacher and also coaches many sports. Mr. Cy was born in Providence RI and attended Central Ct. University, Providence College and RI College. Mr. Cy's hobbies and interests are Mexican vacations, surfing, kayaking, beaching, cooking, reading, writing, fishing, power lunches, Bongo drums, and music.


Ms. Peggy Devine is a special education resource teacher on the Green Team.  She was born in Newport, R.I. and went to the University of Rhode Island. She enjoys canoeing, listening to music, and reading.


Mrs. Dale DiNapoli is an art teacher. (She is Mrs. Scotto's sister!) She was born in Providence and went to college at Rhode Island College, University of Rhode Island, and Rhode Island School of Design. She is interested in painting, coaching soccer, skiing, and travel.


  Mr. Peter Dion is one of our health and physical education teachers.


Mrs. Kathleen Dunstan is a 7th grade social studies teacher on the Yellow Team.  She holds the record for the teacher who has been at Cole the longest. She was born in Providence and is a graduate of Rhode Island College. She is interested in horses (especially dressage) boating, and reading



Mrs. Barbara Fodor is a special education teacher on the Yellow Team. She was born in Ohio and attended both the University of Louisville and Providence College. She has 2 horses and two dogs.


Mrs. Bethany Friel  is a social studies teacher on the Purple Team. She was born in Providence and has a B.A. in history and education from Providence College. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and traveling.  




Mr. Steven Garneau teaches technology education. He was born in RI and has a B.S. from Rhode Island College. He enjoys golf, ice hockey, water sports and spending time with his family. You can email him at  s_garneaunshs@hotmail.com


Miss Kelly Grennan is a 7th grade science teacher on the Green Team.  She is also the Yearbook Advisor. She was born in North Kingstown, RI and attended James Madison University in Virginia where she received a BS in Integrated Science and Technology with a biotechnology concentration.  She completed her teaching certification at Providence College.  Miss Grennan enjoys swimming, traveling, shopping and reading.  You can email her at missgrennan@yahoo.com.


Mr. Stanley Johnson is a computer teacher and also coaches the cross-country team each fall. He was born in Warwick and attended schools in East Greenwich. He attended Rhode Island College where he received his B.S. degree and his Master of Technology in Education degree. He enjoys coaching the cross-country, track, and soccer teams in E.G. Mrs. Betty Krekorian teaches study skills and home economics. She was born in Rhode Island. She received her bachelor's degree at Salve Regina College in Newport and her master's at U.R.I. She enjoys crafts, baking, sewing, and reading. She also helped start the Alumni-Providence Chapter and works on many committees for Salve Regina.


 

Mrs. Paige MacKenzie is a 7th grade English teacher on the Yellow Team.  She was born in Lexington, KY and has a B.A.degree in English from The University of Washington, Seattle. Mrs. Debbie Maldonado is a special education teacher.  She was born in Camden, NJ and has  a bachelor's degree from Cedarvill University adn Master's Degree in special education form Hampton University. 

Mrs. Jody Mangiaratti is a 7th grade social studies teacher on the Green Team She is a graduate of U. C. Berkeley and has an MAT from Brown University. She currently co-advises the Student Council. She enjoys going to the theatre, reading, sports, and spending time with her family.


Ms. Ramona McGillivray is the science teacher on the Purple Team. She was born in Manchester, CT. She attended both the University of RI and Rhode Island College. She enjoys pottery, water sports, skiing and hiking. 

Mrs. Deb  McMullen teaches health and phys. ed. and coaches many sports at the high school. She was born in Providence, but lived in East Greenwich for 25 years and attended East Greenwich schools. She has a bachelor of science degree from Springfield College and Master of Education from Rhode Island College. Mrs. McMullen enjoys coaching field hockey and basketball, is an avid skier and golfer, and loves to collect photos. E-mail Mrs. McMullen.


Mrs. Rosie Metcalf is one of our guidance counselors. She was born in Pawtucket, but lived in California for many years. She has bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology from the University of California and a master's degree in counseling from the University of San Francisco. She enjoys gardening. baseball, knitting, arts and crafts and travelling. 

Mrs. Alexis Meyer is our associate principal this year. She is currently working on her degreee to become certified as a school administrator.  Previously she was an 8th grade  social studies teacher on the Blue Team. Mrs. Meyer was born in Providence, Rhode Island and was a former student in the East Greenwich School System.  She graduated from URI and enjoys children, soccer, skiing, and politics.

Mrs. Lynn Mitchell is the math teacher on the Purple Team. She was born in Attleboro, MA.and graduated from the University of RI.   Miss Stephanie Pavone is an 8th grade English teacher on the Red Team. She was born in Cranston, RI and attended URI where she got a B.S. in English with Middle School Endorsement. She is now working on a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science at URI and plans to graduate in 2007. Her hobbies are shopping, photography, and working on school stuff. Mrs. Nina Reiner is one of our art teachers. She has a bachelor's degree from Rhode Island College  and enjoys painting and reading in her free time.


Ms. Kelli O'Neill  is the social studies teacher on the Red Team. She was born in Providence and graduated from George Washington University and has a Master's Degree in history from Providence College. She enjoys travelling, shopping, movies and reading. Email her here


Mrs. Cheri Pierce is a 7th grade math teacher on the Yellow Team.  She was born in Warwick and attended Rhode Island College and Providence College. Mrs. Pierce enjoys skiing, traveling and spending time with her young sons.


Ms. Donna Phillips is a math teacher on the Green Team. She also helps to advise the ski club. She was born in Central Falls and graduated from Rhode Island College. She enjoys skiing, kayaking, running, and biking.

Ms. Raven Quimby is the science teacher on the Red Team. She was born in Machiase, Maine. She has a degree in Communicative Disorders from URI as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching and Middle Level Endorsement from Rhode Island College. Mrs. Debra Scotto  is a reading specialist. She is Mrs. DiNapoli's sister! She was born in Johnston and is a graduate of Rhode Island College. She enjoys spending time with her family, roller-blading, reading and swimming.

She was born in North Kingstown and has a B.S. degree in Natural Science and Middle School Education from Lesley College. Her hobbies include kayaking, hiking and scuba diving. She is on maternity leave this year.


 


Mrs. Joyce Tomecko is a special education teacher on the Red Team. She was born in New Brunswick, NJ and graduated from Trenton State College of New Jersey. Her hobbies and interests include gardening, cooking and enjoying the beach.

Mr. Michael Wood is a shop teacher. He has degrees from Rhode Island College and Roger Williams College . He enjoys fly fishing in Montana every summmer.


Mrs. Julie Wortmann teaches math on the Red Team. She was born in Rochester, New York . She has a B.A in math from the University of Rhode Island and a Master's in Education in Curriculum and Instructional Technology from Framingham State College.  Mrs. Buffan enjoys shopping, traveling and arts and crafts projects. Ms. Connie Zack is the Library Media Specialist.  She has a B.A. in English literature from Smith College and a Master's  in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from URI. Ms. Zack loves to surf the 'net looking for great sites for teachers and students. She also loves to travel, read and take long leisurely walks.
