A note
from Mrs. D
October, 2006
Greetings,
Happy fall! We are all settling in to a great school year. Our routines
have been set and kids are working hard. Here are a few reminders to help
keep you informed.
State Testing will
take place Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for the next three weeks
(ending OCT. 20th), Make-ups will be held the last week of October. I will
administer the test between 9-11 each morning. A good night's rest and a
healthy breakfast are essential!
Each week your
child will have a spelling Tic-Tac-Toe Menu to complete for homework. The
kids will need their Core Words and Priority Words to do these assignments.
If you need another copy, let me know. Three of the 9 assignments are due
on Fridays. Please sign these sheets and review with your child each week.
Some children are
having trouble completing and passing in assignments. Using the Agenda is
the best way to build organizational skills. Please check your child's Agenda
frequently.
It is important
for the kids to have their 15 minute break each morning. I do not like to
keep kids in for missing work. Starting last Friday, I began sending home
missing work notices so that incomplete assignments could be made up over
the weekend. I will continue to send these notices on Fridays only to kids
who have missing assignments. The notice will need to be signed and returned
to school. Please ask your child if they have a slip for you to see. I will
staple it in the agenda so that it can't get lost!
Please feel free to email
or call me if you have any questions.
Students should be reading for at least 20 minutes per day. Any reading
material that your child enjoys reading will do.
