Introduction:
Have you ever thought about how your body moves? What parts of your
body are involved in the movement process? How does your body process
oxygen? What parts of our body are involved in speech and
thought?
We are about to embark on a Web Quest to learn about the systems of
the Human Body. You will be assigned to one of the following body
systems: Skeletal, Muscular, Circulatory, Respiratory, or Nervous
System. You and your esteemed colleagues will gather the information
about one of the systems and report your finding back to the
class.
Task:
You and your colleagues will be assigned one of the following body
systems: Skeletal, Muscular, Circulatory, Respiratory, or Nervous
System. You will research this body system and present your findings
in a PowerPoint presentation.
Process:
Worksheet: You and your colleagues will research one body
system. You will be required to provide the following
information:
1. Name of your system and tell where it is located.
2. The purpose of the system.
3. The body components used by the system and what they do.
4. Describe how this body system works.
5. What you can do to keep this system functioning well.
Power Point: You will then use your findings and notes on your worksheet to create a PowerPoint presentation. You will present this to your class. It will be at least six slides. They will include:
1. Title Slide (Name of System)
2. Purpose (What does this system do.)
3. Major parts (Listed with how they work)
4. How does this system work (Part I)
5. How does this system work (Part II)
6. What can people do to make sure this system functions well.
Use the following Web site to find out information about your system:
Nature's Best: The Human Body
Evaluation:
1. You will be graded on how well you work with your team in
gathering information
2. Your grade will be based on how well your team works together
completing and presenting the PowerPoint presentation. I will
specifically be looking for the following: Did you practice? Are you
respectful of one another? Is everyone participating?
Conclusion:
You have researched a system of the body. You have demonstrated your
knowledge by creating and presenting to your class a PowerPoint
Presentation. You have also listened to presentations of other body
systems. Hopefully you will realize how important it is to keep our
body healthy so each of the systems can carry out their
job!
