CALLING ALL ARTISTS!!
I am looking for Parents, Relatives and Friends of the Fogarty Memorial Elementary School community who are ARTISTS. People from our community who are commercial artists, graphic designers, illustrators, painters, potters, sculptors, weavers, etc...
It is my hope to be able to bring PROFESSIONAL VISUAL ARTWORK to the children of Fogarty Memorial Elementary School. But I will need your assistance! Throughout my art program the children are exposed to many artists from the past and to art and artists from many parts of the world, but they need to see that ARTISTS live among us.
My idea is for a "Local Artist" to become our "Artist in Residence," allowing us to display some pieces of their work in the art room and in the main office. If the artist's time allows, they will be invited to speak to one or more of the classes, summarizing when they first became interested in their art along with the HOW, WHEN, WHERE and WHY they do what they do to "CREATE." Each Artist's Residency will last about one month if possible.
There must be plenty of talent out there among you! I am planning to begin this program as soon as it is feasible. WHO will be the first to offer to share their art with the students at Fogarty Memorial Elementary School?
