Internet Acceptable Use Agreement
Dear Parents,
The Internet is a special tool that can help students learn, communicate, and solve problems. Before students can use the Internet at this school, there are some promises that the student needs to make to their teacher, their classmates, their parents, and themselves. These promises are made to help keep them safe and to make their time on the Internet fun, interesting, and educational. When the student uses the Internet, they promise to...
...treat the people they "meet" on the Internet and the machines they use with respect....act as a representative of this school, showing everyone that they can act responsibly.
...tell their teacher or another adult when they see or their group sees something that is inappropriate or makes them feel uncomfortable.
...follow all of the instructions their teacher gives and stay only in the areas he/she suggests to them.
...actively use the information they find on the Internet in their learning (projects, reports, discussions).
...use the Internet as a learning tool to help them discover their world. They should know WHY they're using the Internet for a certain task.
...share the activities they do on the Internet at home. It's important to let Mom and Dad know what they're doing on the Internet and why they're there.
...be aware that there are consequences for choosing not to follow the Internet rules.
