Enrichment

2007 - 2008 West Glocester
Enrichment Schedule

Through the hard work, fundraising, and dedication of the West Glocester Community Organization, the following enrichment programs have been scheduled:

October 16 and 19 - Fire Prevention Program
Firemen and women along with EMT's from the Harmony, Chepachet, and West Glocester Fire Districts will visit West and talk to the students about fire prevention and what to do in case of a fire. Fire trucks and an ambulance will be on hand to allow the students time to see the inside of the trucks. Fifth graders get to spray the hoses!

November 1 - Scott Jameson, Communications Show
Mr. Jameson will discuss the magic of communication using juggling, mime, magic, and music. Students will learn about non-verbal communication, verbal communication, and communications technology.

December 17 - Trinity Repertory Company, "A Christmas Carol"
The West Glocester Community Organization's annual gift to the fifth grade class will once again be to "A Christmas Carol" in downtown Providence. The play's setting, music, and delivery change every year at Trinity Repertory Company, but the Charles Dickens classic tale remains the same.

January 18, Mark Shepard, Drums
Mr. Shepard will tell stories and work with the students through drumming. Mark visited West last year, and was one of our most popular shows, so I couldn't resist inviting him back for a whole different program this year.

February 14, Space Program
IceFire brings huge inflatable props with them to talk about the wonders of space. This science show promises to be fun and exciting.

March 5, Mime
Jeff Dove, mime, brings a new and clear style of mime to students. His assembly will bring us through the many forms of pantomime in a simple comedy format. Mr. Dove will work with our third grade students in individual hands-on workshops in the afternoon.

May 30, Body Works
Dr. B. A. Bodybuddy comes to West with two helpers, Hillary the Heart and Larry the Liver. They speak to Dr. Bodybuddy and the audience as students discover how their bodies work and how to keep them healthy. Lots of audience participation! Later in the day, our fourth grade students will attend hands-on workshops with the good Dr.
