My Favorite Part

My favorite part of the story was when Ivy won the  drawing contest. Her prize was  a leather case filled with paints, brushes, pens, and pencils. She gave the case to Gergory because Ivy thought Gergory was a better artist than her.  I think that was very kind.  Ivy did a good deed that helped Gregory be better friends with Ivy.

Theme

The theme of the book is everyone needs a place of their own. When Gregory's uncle Max moved in gregory wonted a new place of his own because Uncle Max moved in to Gregoryís room and they had to share the room. Gregory was hoping that no one would know about that place in the burned building. He found a place of his own where it was quiet and peaceful.

Gregory

In the book, The Chalk Box Kid, Gregory likes his own space. Gregory got his own  space  in the new house that he moved in to. He was  so excited. Then his Uncle Max moved in with a portable TV  and Gregory, Uncle Max had to share a room. So Gregory went outside to  find a place of his own. He did find a place of his own in a burnt building Gregory found lots of boxes that had chalk inside! So  Gregory drew a big garden on the wall with a lot of detail. But when he went into school the next day he lied to the teacher. But no one found out. Even though lies are bad sometimes they come out ok.  Everybody likes their own space, even I like my own space.

I know why Gregory does not like his Uncle Max. He thinks he is the only one who is special but he is not. Gregory knew it too! He even proved it to his mom! Gregory said to his mom Uncle Max even showed he did not care about any one. He put his posters over my pictures that I worked really hard on. But Gregoryís Uncle Max changed at the end of the story. He showed Gregory he cared by taking his posters down .
