Introduction
     What does it take to make a garden grow?  Gregory's teacher invited someone special to teach this to the class.  Gregory great a "very special garden" because he did not have enough room for a real garden.  Most children grew a real garden. What did their gardens need to grow?  In this activity you will find out what gardens needs to grow.

   With your teacher, please review your school's acceptable use policy for work on the Internet. Also, links to the web often change. Tell your teacher when you find a poor link in this guide.



The Task

  1. Visit this website about plants and decide what is needed to make plants grow.        The Great Plant Escape
  2. Read the plant books on the science table to investigate what plants need to grow.
  3. Make a list in your Math & Science Journal of what is needed by plants.
  4. Print a plant growth diagram and label the items needed for plant growth.
  5. Click here for the diagram.
  6. At the bottom of the diagram use the space to explain how each item is used by the plant.
