Narragansett School Committee

Our Report about Mrs. Chronley, School Committee Member
By Erika, Geraldin, Marc, and Justin

Mrs. Maureen Chronley is one of the School Committee Members for Narragansett. The other members are Mrs. Sheila Trainor, Mrs. Karen Accetta, Mrs. Christine Sullivan and Mr. John Devaney. Mrs. Chronley came to our class to tell us about her job.

We learned that she's been doing this job for over seven years. Mrs. Chronley said that to become a School Committee member you have to ask people to vote for you.  The most important part of her job is hiring people to work in the school. They have to hire the Superintendent, the principals and the teachers. She likes when people invite her to Arbor Day, the Pasta Pig Out and the Multicultural program.

The part of the job she'd like to change is she'd like the meetings to be held in the morning. The part of her job that takes up the most time is going to the town hall to check the things that the school has spent money on.

Some of the problems that people come to her with is if there's a mistake with the busses or they wonder if the big state tests are going well or not so well.

She thinks she's been most helpful by making sure the schools have good principals, teachers and Superintendent.

Mrs. Chronley and the School Committee have a very important job.
