10/25/99
We mixed the soil with water. Then we filled each of the 8 pots with
the soil and added 6 corn seeds and planted them 1 inch below the soil.
We left them and allowed them to germinate.
10/27/99
We checked each of the 8 pots and watered them all. There is no sign
of growth yet. But hopefully soon!!
10/28/99
There is still no growth in our pots, we are getting worried that we suffocated
our seeds.
10/29/99
We are very worried we have killed our seeds because they have not even
begun to grow. We excavated seed and we have found that is absolutely
no growth. So we watered our seeds so they can survive over the weekend.
We will check our plants again on monday's class and we are hoping there
will be some sign of growth.
11/1/99
Yah!! We finally have growth over the weekend. We have recorded the
growth below:
We also watered all our plants
after the weekend.
11/2/99
Today we watered all our plants a little. We have noticed more sprouts
have grown up over the night. Today we are setting up the lab so
that each plant is under the amount of light we need to run our experiment.
Some bad news is that plant 1 from the 12 hour sporadic group has still
not shown any growth.
11/3/99
We checked our plants today, but we did not water them because they were
too wet and matted down. Tomorrow we will see if we should water
them.
11/5/99
We prepared our plants for the weekend by checking them to making sure
they had enough water for the weekend. Then we made sure they were
all placed back under the proper light experiment.
11/9/99
Today we have checked our plants and sprayed all the pots with a water
mist because after the weekend they were dry. Our group also took
pictures of the plants with the digital camera. Alyssa and Chelsea
measured the plants again today. (see table on the next page) The
plants under all situations of light are doing well so far. Things
are running smooth for our experiment so far.
11/12/99
There is a excellent amount of growth under the 4 hour light. We
think that the low growth under the 12 hour light is due to too much sunlight
and it is over drying the plants so as of now the 4 hour light is producing
the best growth.
11/14/99
Once again we noticed how much growth the 4 hour lighted plants are having.
So we took pictures of our plants so we could visually show the difference
between all our plants and how they are growing.
Oh NO! We have
some bad news our plants which are under the 12 hour sporadic light are
missing! Gone! MIA (missing in action)! We are hoping we can find them
soon.
11/19/99
We watered all our plants because they needed water. After that we really
didn't have time to do much more, so we put our experiments back together.
11/24/99
We are very happy because our plants are looking very healthy. We
are pretty sure we will have a successful project. Though we are
worried that over the 4 day weekend our plants are going to be harmed by
being dried out. Also we are concerned with the great amount of bugs
flying around our plants. Also our pots has fungus growth.
We will check back after the long weekend.
12/1/99
Today we are very depressed. Our plants have met their death.
We feel this is due to the fact that over the long weekend the plants did
not receive any water. Also because of the fact that the light timers
were tampered with. We feel that our experiment has been successful
up to this point.
