Send Them on a Quest

Sending your students on a WebQuest is one of the most engaging things you can do on the internet.  WebQuests were first developed and designed by Bernie Dodge and Tom March in early 1995 at San Diego State University.  "A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests are designed to use learners' time well, to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation." according to Dodge and March.  Basically it is a well designed lesson that requires the students to use information available at their fingertips to engage in and strengthen higher level thinking skills.

Visit Bernie Dodge and Tom March's extensive site on WebQuests.  Here you will see hundreds of examples of Webquests as well as learn how to create one yourself.

Visit the Spartanburg District 3 County Schools' site for more Quests.
