To develop and implement an
action plan to increase community, parent,
and industry involvement in our educational
system by June 1999. |

To design and implement, an
on-going, comprehensive staff development
program which correlates to all new
curriculum changes as well as providing for
individual teacher improvement in areas of

To maintain and implement a
five-year district technology plan for grades
Kindergarten through Grade 12. The plan will
be updated annually in November and presented
to the School Committee. This plan will
address a full range of computer science and
technological opportunities for all students. |

To develop, through a five
year plan with annual target dates,
comprehensive curriculum utilizing current
research and best practice in all curricula
areas to be completed by the year 2003. |

To insure that 100% of
Portsmouth School Department students achieve
the standard in all disciplines at each
assessment mark (grades 4,8, and 10) based on
established standards that incorporate goal
setting, problem solving, and critical
thinking by the year 2003. |

To develop creative and
innovative alternate funding sources in order
to increase support for school programs and
needs by 10% per year. |

To maintain the highest
standards for our professional staff by
developing and implementing a consistent and
objective evaluative procedure by September
1, 1998, and updated annually. |

To fully implement the State
of Rhode Island Student Investment Initiative
and be consistent with Rhode Island
Comprehensive Educational Strategy. |

five year Asset Protection Plan which will
insure the upkeep and maintenance of
buildings and equipment, by September 30,
