ADMISSION

Policy

1.1 Every child who has completed, or will have completed, six (6) years of life on or before December 31 of any school year, shall be eligible to attend First Grade during all of the days that the public schools are in session during the school year. Each child shall be eligible to attend First Grade only upon completion of a State recognized or accredited Kindergarten program, or as otherwise permitted by law.

1.2 Any child who transfers from a grade one program may be admitted at any time during the school year.

1.3 All children registered for grade one must have submitted by their parents/guardians a birth certificate or other evidence of the child's birth date and health immunization records as required by the State Department of Health.

Any child whose age is developmentally appropriate (first semester = 6; second semester = 6 1/2) may be transferred or entered with parental permission into the regular grade one program upon the recommendation of the building Principal and approval of the Superintendent.
