ATTENDANCE POLICY

The Portsmouth School Committee, Administration and faculty believe that full time attendance in school is important. Each class missed reduces the direct contact time between the student and teacher and thereby decreases the opportunity for the student to reach his/her full academic potential. A student's education should take precedence when a choice is possible between attendance and non-attendance at school.

Principals in each school shall monitor student's full time attendance in school. When a student's absence or tardiness is considered excessive by a principal, the principal may request a meeting with the child's parents/guardians in order to remedy the problem.
