What's news???...

Students on our team are working on a pilot program called "Thematics". A newsletter explaining the program was recently sent home. Thematics is based on hands-on activities.

Presently we are exploring China as a team unit. Following vacation, we will have a presenter come to speak about China. Mr. Ken Scigulinsky, a Bristol teacher, taught English in China for one year. We are looking forward to having him share his knowledge with us. From there, we will be "off to Japan".

Cyclone Field Trips:

Our last field trip was to Biomes, Inc. in Kingston. Students enjoyed the opportunity to see, learn about and touch animals of the ocean. Thanks to the parents and staff who helped to make this an enjoyable trip!

Lend a Hand Opportunities:
Students at Gallagher Middle School have been participating in "Cups of Kindness". Proceeds from this project will be given to those in need in our local communities in conjunction with the Feinstein program.

A few words about homework:

Homework provides a vital link between home and school. It reinforces or extends what is done during the school day. Homework also encourages independence and responsibility in the individual students.

Remember, a calendar style assignment book is required at all times during classes. All assignments are to be written in this book DAILY. Parents are asked to check this book regularly to assure that homework is being completed and turned in on time.

Homework Suggestions

Research

Research is often required for school work and projects. Please keep up the good work and use our local libraries. The staff at both the East Smithfield and Greenville Libraries are happy to help if you are having trouble finding what you need.

Books may be requested at Greenville Library online if you have a CLAN (Library) card. They will be delivered to the library within a few days.
