 WALLS BECAUSE...
Walls have been an
important symbol in our world's history.
They have served as protection, as physical separations, and as a means of personal privacy.  Walls also unite people. While some "walls" are not visible, they can still represent hardship and isolation for many people.

Angel Island: An Invisible Wall

WHY WALLS?
Our purpose is to become informed about some of the hopes, dreams, struggles, and accomplishments that have permeated throughout the world, and still exist today. It is our goal to foster a better understanding and respect for those who are both different and alike

Our Unit
Issues and Essential Questions for Us to Think About
In what ways have the purpose of each of these walls affected the inhabitants of its region?  How has each wall influenced us in our view of its region?  Explain the significance of your wall to the culture of today.  How have these perceptions and purposes changed over time?  Describe the role that technology has played  in any changes that you discover.
